Dragon Quest 12 remains in development, with series creator Yuji Horii revealing that information about the game will be released gradually. In a livestream with his radio show group KosoKoso Hōsō Kyoku, Horii mentioned that the team at Square Enix is diligently working on the project. This marks the first update on Dragon Quest 12 since May 2024, when Horii had previously discussed the tragic losses of Dragon Quest's character designer Akira Toriyama and composer Koichi Sugiyama. At that time, lead producer Yu Miyake had also transitioned to lead Square Enix's mobile game division.
Amid concerns from fans about potential cancellation due to Square Enix's restructuring and the absence of updates, Horii's recent comments provide reassurance that Dragon Quest 12 is still being actively developed.

In other news, Square Enix reported that the Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake has exceeded sales expectations, selling 2 million copies.
