Amidst the emergence of Reburn—a studio formed by former members of 4A Games Ukraine, the creators of the iconic Metro series—the original 4A Games has reassured fans of its commitment to expanding the franchise. This clarification came after Reburn announced their inaugural project, La Quimera, sparking questions about the future of Metro.

In an official statement, 4A Games addressed any ambiguity surrounding their relationship with Reburn, congratulating them on La Quimera while affirming their focus on the Metro series.

"We remain the team responsible for bringing you the beloved Metro games," the statement declared. "Our efforts toward the next Metro installment continue in partnership with Dmitry Glukhovsky, guided by the same visionaries and talent that have shaped the series since its inception."

Beyond the Metro sequel, the studio hinted at progress on a brand-new IP, though specifics remain undisclosed. They emphasized pride in their Ukrainian heritage and multicultural team, noting that most of their staff—approximately 150 out of over 200 members—are still headquartered in Kyiv, with satellite operations in Sliema, Malta, and remote arrangements.

Regarding the organizational split, 4A Games explained:

"Following the completion of Metro Exodus and its DLC, we collaborated closely with our partners at 4A Games Ukraine through outsourcing. Post-Exodus, we founded 4A Games Limited in Kyiv, absorbing roughly 50 more colleagues to sustain our momentum. Simultaneously, 4A Games Ukraine embarked on their standalone journey with La Quimera, eventually rebranding as Reburn."

Since the release of Metro Exodus in early 2019, fan interest in the series has surged amid sparse updates. While spin-offs and enhancements like the Enhanced Edition sustained engagement, many eagerly await the next chapter in Dmitry Glukhovsky’s dystopian world. Backed by Embracer Group (previously THQ Nordic), the studio initially teased a new Metro title in 2019, committing to a vague "202X" timeline before falling quiet. Now, it seems, the wait may soon come to an end.
