A new version of Alexa is making its debut – at least in early access. Powered by generative AI, Alexa+ is a significant upgrade over the standard voice assistant. While it introduces a range of new capabilities, its primary appeal is the ability to sustain conversations with a much more natural flow. According to Amazon, "Alexa+ is more conversational, intelligent, personalized – and she helps you accomplish your goals."
Alexa+ is currently in Early Access, but it’s limited to a select group of Echo Show devices: the Echo Show 8, 10, 15, and 21. If you own or purchase one of these models, you can be among the first to try it. Click the link below to sign up for notifications about the Early Access launch. After this period, Alexa+ will be included as a free Prime benefit, or available to non-Prime members for $19.99 per month.

It will assist with a wide variety of tasks, such as finishing your to-do list, retrieving specific calendar details, making restaurant reservations, and more. Amazon’s Alexa+ Early Access page also mentions that "new features are added regularly," so more capabilities of the enhanced assistant will likely be revealed after the Early Access phase.
However, not all devices support Alexa+. Amazon states that certain older Echo models – including the Echo Dot 1st Gen, Echo 1st Gen, Echo Plus 1st Gen, Amazon Tap, Echo Show 1st Gen, Echo Show 2nd Gen, and Echo Spot 1st Gen – will continue using the original Alexa. The company notes on the Early Access page, "We plan to expand Alexa+ to more devices soon, such as Fire TV, Fire tablets, and Alexa.com."
