Alienware Aurora 16 and 16X 2025 Gaming Laptops Launch Today

Dec 11,2025 Author: Riley

Earlier this month, Alienware introduced its new 2025 mainstream gaming laptop series, named the "Alienware Aurora." The first 16-inch models are now available directly from Dell. The Alienware Aurora 16—distinct from the desktop line—is the more affordable option, starting at $1,949.99 with an Intel Core Ultra Series 2 i9-270H processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 graphics card rated at 85W TGP. The premium Aurora 16X, priced at $2,299.99, comes equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX CPU and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 GPU with a 115W TGP. Both models are expected to begin shipping in mid-June. While an RTX 5060 configuration is also available, it is currently listed as a pre-order with no estimated ship date, as the GPU has not yet launched.

Unlike other Alienware laptops, such as the recently announced Area-51, the new Aurora models feature a streamlined aesthetic with a slim, understated chassis and minimal RGB lighting. In fact, the Aurora 16’s keyboard is only backlit in white, similar to Apple’s MacBooks. Under the hood, both the Aurora 16 and 16X pack robust gaming components, supported by an advanced Cryo Chamber dual-fan and copper heat pipe cooling system. The Aurora 16 is slightly thinner and lighter, thanks to the power-efficient Intel Core Ultra 9 CPU and the RTX 5070 GPU with a lower 85W TGP. Meanwhile, the Aurora 16X has a more substantial build to support better cooling, allowing it to house a higher-performance Intel Core Ultra 9 HX-series processor and an RTX 5070 graphics card running at a full 115W TGP.

Both laptops are noticeably more affordable than the Alienware Area-51, which starts above $3,000. They’re also much more portable, weighing up to 1.6 pounds less and measuring up to 30% slimmer than a comparably sized 16-inch Area-51 model. I don’t anticipate significant price drops in the near future, particularly as NVIDIA GPU prices may rise according to industry sources like Tom’s Hardware.

Gamers should go with the Alienware Aurora 16X model

The choice is clear for gamers seeking a powerful mobile workstation: the Aurora 16X is the recommended option. For just $300 more, you receive a substantially more capable machine with a host of valuable upgrades. Here’s a breakdown of the key improvements:
