A Celebration Overflowing with Events and Freebies

The Sims' 25th anniversary is marked by a wave of in-game rewards, a star-studded livestream showcasing top Simmers, and the triumphant comeback of The Sims 1 and The Sims 2 on PC.

Kevin Gibson, The Sims Production Director, expressed his gratitude to the dedicated players in an interview with Xbox Wire: "Our incredible players have shown us that no one does life like The Sims, and we wanted to celebrate this journey we've shared. From a game with a groundbreaking idea at E3 25 years ago to where we are today, we've touched millions of lives across generations. This wouldn't have been possible without the support of our players over the past two decades." He emphasized that this anniversary is a heartfelt thank you to all Simmers who have contributed to this remarkable 25-year journey.

The Return of The Sims 1 and The Sims 2

The biggest announcement is the return of the original The Sims and The Sims 2! Both games, complete with their DLCs, are now available on Steam and the EA store, individually or as a special Birthday Bundle.

This is a significant event for long-time fans, as these titles have been unavailable for purchase for almost a decade. EA has overcome the compatibility issues with modern systems, releasing updated versions playable on current hardware—a highly anticipated development for the Simmer community.

In-Game Festivities for The Sims 4 and The Sims FreePlay

The Sims 4 features the "Blast From The Past" event, introducing iconic clothing, furniture, and décor from earlier games. Over four weeks, players will receive new items, including neon inflatable chairs, a three-tiered cake, a light-up dance floor, and even retro wired phones.

The Sims FreePlay also joins the celebration with a Birthday Update that harkens back to the series' origins. This includes new Live Events ("The One with the Coffee Shop" and "Reality Island"), a velour tracksuit, 25 days of daily gifts, and a Social Town museum showcasing The Sims' history.

A 25-Hour Livestream to Commemorate 25 Years

The anniversary kicked off with a non-stop 25-hour livestream on February 4th, featuring numerous celebrities, streamers, and beloved Simmers. Notable guests included Doja Cat, Latto, Trixie Mattel and Katya, Dan & Phil, Plumbella, Angelo & Lexy, Ironmouse, and many more.
