Alan Wake 2 Surpasses 2 Million Sales Milestone, Achieving Profitability

Feb 20,2025 Author: Isabella

Alan Wake 2 surpasses 2 million global sales, exceeding initial projections. This figure significantly surpasses the 1.3 million units sold between October 2023 and March 2024, a period where Remedy Entertainment celebrated the title as its fastest-selling game to date.

Remedy's recent financial report to shareholders highlights this achievement, attributing the milestone to the game's strong performance, bolstered by the launch of the Lake House expansion and the Alan Wake 2 Deluxe Edition. The success has enabled the studio to begin receiving royalties after covering development and marketing expenses.

The report also provides updates on upcoming projects. Control 2, a collaborative effort with Annapurna Interactive, is nearing completion of its pre-production phase and will commence full production by late February 2025. Simultaneously, the Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake is progressing steadily in full production.

Further, FBC: Firebreak, Remedy's multiplayer Control spin-off, remains in full production. A successful closed technical test in December validated matchmaking and backend infrastructure. While a release date is yet to be announced, self-publishing by Remedy is slated for later in 2025.

CEO Tero Virtala expressed confidence in the company's trajectory, stating, "We are well-positioned to commence our strategic period and have established achievable targets."

IGN's review of Alan Wake 2 awarded the game a commendable 9/10, praising it as a "superb survival horror sequel that significantly surpasses its predecessor."
