“我认为你们都会喜欢，”Vincke说。“实际上，我确信。而且我们进展很快，因为制作机器还在运转。你已经可以玩到一些内容了。但是你玩了之后，一看，嗯，还可以。”然而，据Vincke说，在制作多年与龙与地下城相关的游戏后，团队不愿再花更多时间在这个IP上。“我的意思是，我们可能需要重做10次。我们真的想在接下来的三年里这样做吗？”
虽然《博德之门4》听起来是个好主意，但Vincke和开发人员并不想再花几年时间做同类型项目。Vincke表示，工作室觉得是时候追求他们最初的想法，并将其付诸实践了。
“我们应该考虑如何去做让我们兴奋的事情，”他说。在与团队讨论后，大家一致同意继续前进。在2023年游戏大奖赛获得成功后，Larian Studios迈出了下一步，决定放弃《博德之门3》，不再开发这款2023年度游戏的续作。
“我认为，自从我们做出（不制作博德之门4）的决定以来，作为开发者，我们从未感觉如此轻松，”Vincke说。“老实说，你真的无法解释或表达我们有多么解放。所以士气非常高涨，仅仅是因为我们又在做新的东西了。”
“我们会继续打补丁一段时间，然后我们都会休假，然后我们会弄清楚接下来做什么，”高级产品经理Tom Butler当时说。由于《博德之门4》和《博德之门3》资料片的创意都被搁置，Larian现在专注于他们即将推出的两个未公开项目，Vincke说这两个项目将是他们迄今为止最伟大的作品。
在制作《博德之门》系列之前，Larian Studios之前制作过《神界》系列，现在Larian已经离开了龙与地下城，可能会推出该系列的另一部作品。在《博德之门3》去年8月发布之前不久，Vincke表示，《神界：原罪》的续作“肯定指日可待”，但团队需要先完成《博德之门3》。虽然这些项目的细节目前仍不得而知，但Vincke提到他们该系列的下一个项目不会是《神界：原罪3》，并表示它将与粉丝们想象的不同。
与此同时，《博德之门3》的最后一个主要补丁将于2024年秋季发布，增加了官方mod支持、跨平台游戏和新的邪恶结局。
