Journalist Jason Schreier reports that the acclaimed studio is currently developing an all-new single-player Batman game.
While details are still limited—Schreier hasn't clarified whether it will be a prequel, a continuation of the Arkham storyline, or set in a completely new universe—one insider suggests that Rocksteady is building a Batman Beyond experience, dropping players into a futuristic Gotham. The ambitious plan? A full trilogy. The game is anticipated to release on next-gen consoles.

The Arkham series was celebrated for its stunning graphics, and a futuristic Gotham could become Rocksteady's most visually impressive creation. Moving to Batman Beyond also tackles a difficult challenge: the voice of Batman. Following the passing of the legendary Kevin Conroy in 2022, the studio could spotlight Terry McGinnis or Damian Wayne—similar to what Warner Bros. Montreal intended for its canceled sequel to Batman: Arkham Knight.
Rocksteady’s previous release faced challenges—players didn't connect with its online shooter format, and the game underperformed. The studio canceled its post-launch roadmap in less than a year, wrapping up the narrative with a rushed animation that walked back some of the most divisive story elements, explaining that the fallen heroes were actually clones.
Now, Rocksteady is returning to its strengths, creating a fresh standalone Batman adventure. However, sources caution that the project is still several years from release.
