Disable Crossplay in Black Ops 6: Xbox, PS5 Guide

May 26,2025 Author: Hazel

In the last decade, the concept of cross-platform play has transitioned from a distant dream to an everyday reality. While it has undoubtedly united the *Call of Duty* community, crossplay does come with its own set of challenges. Here's how you can disable crossplay in *Black Ops 6* and whether it's the right move for you.

Should You Disable Crossplay in Black Ops 6? Answered

Deciding to disable crossplay in *Black Ops 6* can feel like a double-edged sword. The primary reason players opt to turn off crossplay is to level the playing field, ensuring a more balanced and fair gaming experience. Console players on Xbox and PlayStation often seek to avoid matches with PC players due to the different control schemes.

If you're a console gamer, you might consider disabling crossplay because PC players use a mouse and keyboard, which offers a precision advantage over controllers. This can lead to a less competitive experience for console users. Moreover, PC players might have easier access to mods and cheats. Despite *Call of Duty*'s Ricochet Anti-Cheat system, players of *Black Ops 6* and *Warzone* have reported encountering numerous hackers and cheaters. Disabling crossplay could theoretically reduce the number of cheaters you face in lobbies.

However, there's a significant downside to disabling crossplay in *Call of Duty*: it shrinks the pool of players available for matchmaking. This can make finding matches more challenging and may result in longer wait times and potentially poorer connection quality between players.

How To Turn Off Crossplay in Black Ops 6

Turning off Crossplay in Black Ops 6Disabling Crossplay in *Black Ops 6* is a straightforward process. The Crossplay and Crossplay Communications toggles are located at the top of the Account & Network settings. Simply navigate to these settings and press X or A to switch the toggle from On to Off. You can do this within *Black Ops 6*, *Warzone*, or from the main *Call of Duty* HQ page. Note that in the image above, we accessed the Crossplay setting by adding it to the Quick Settings for easy access.

You might find the setting greyed out and locked at times. In certain modes, like Ranked Play, *Call of Duty* has previously enforced crossplay. While this was intended to promote fairness, the results have often been the opposite. Fortunately, starting in Season 2 of *Black Ops 6*, players will have the option to disable crossplay, giving more control over their gaming environment, especially in high-stakes modes.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
