It's happening at last! After months of anticipation, Eternatus is officially making its way to Pokémon GO in its spectacular Eternamax form. This legendary debut coincides with the Pokémon GO Fest 2025: Max Finale event.
Mark Your Calendars for the Ultimate Showdown
The GO Fest 2025: Max Finale kicks off August 23-24, 2025, running from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. This epic event launches immediately following the Dark Skies event, which runs from August 18 through August 23.
Dark Skies Event Highlights
- Special wild encounters including starter Pokémon Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble
- Chance to catch Wooloo and Skwovet with shiny variants available
Eternamax Eternatus Arrives in Style
When the Max Finale begins, trainers will discover an expanded roster of wild Pokémon:
- Original Kanto starters: Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle
- Galar region starters making appearances
- Rare finds like Caterpie, Gastly, and Shiny-capable Darumaka and Falinks
How to Catch the Legendary Beast
Securing Eternatus requires either a GO Pass: Max Finale or the premium GO Pass Deluxe: Max Finale. Important notes:
- Each trainer can only catch one Eternatus during the event
- It won't appear in wild encounters or standard raids
- The encounter happens through a special Max Battle adventure launched during Dark Skies
Powering Up Your New Legendary
While you can only catch Eternatus once, leveling it up demands serious resources:
- Requires massive amounts of Candy and Candy XL
- Max Battles on August 23-24 will be your primary source for these resources
- Eternamax Eternatus appears in these battles (though not catchable again)
Event Perks Not to Miss
- Increased Power Spots with daily refreshes
- Higher Max Particle collection limit
- Double Candy rewards during event days
- Enhanced Candy XL drop rates
