Nintendo's just announced a thrilling addition to the Switch Online + Expansion Pack: two iconic F-Zero Game Boy Advance racing games!
F-Zero Climax and F-Zero: GP Legend Speed Onto Switch Online
Launching October 11, 2024
Prepare for high-octane action! Nintendo revealed today that F-Zero: GP Legend and the previously Japan-only F-Zero Climax will be available on the Switch Online + Expansion Pack starting October 11th.
The F-Zero franchise, Nintendo's futuristic racing series, first roared onto the scene in Japan over 30 years ago (1990). A critical darling, F-Zero's influence is undeniable, inspiring other racing giants like SEGA's Daytona USA. Known for pushing the boundaries of console technology, F-Zero titles were consistently among the fastest racing games on systems like the SNES.
Like Nintendo's Mario Kart, F-Zero challenges players to reach the finish line while navigating treacherous tracks and battling rival racers in their powerful "F-Zero machines." The series' star, Captain Falcon, even makes appearances in the Super Smash Bros. series.
*F-Zero: GP Legend* debuted in Japan in 2003, followed by a worldwide release in 2004. *F-Zero Climax*, released in Japan in 2004, remained a region-exclusive title until now – a 19-year wait before the release of the Switch's *F-Zero 99* last year. In an interview, F-Zero designer Takaya Imamura cited the immense popularity of *Mario Kart* as a contributing factor to the F-Zero series' extended hiatus.
This October 2024 update to the Switch Online + Expansion Pack brings both F-Zero Climax and F-Zero: GP Legend to subscribers. Get ready to compete in Grand Prix races, story modes, and various time trials to conquer the leaderboards!
