Whispers of a new, unannounced project from Santa Monica Studio, the minds behind God of War, are swirling. A recent update from a key developer sheds light on this intriguing possibility.
Glauco Longhi, a veteran character artist and developer, Hints at a New IP
A Sci-Fi Venture?
Glauco Longhi, a prominent figure in the creation of God of War (2018) and Ragnarok, recently rejoined Santa Monica Studio. His LinkedIn profile reveals his role overseeing character development for a currently unannounced project. His updated profile states: "Supervising/Directing Character development on an unannounced project, and also helping the studio to continually push and raise the bar on Character Development for videogames."
This cryptic update, coupled with previous statements by Santa Monica Studio's creative director, Cory Barlog (who directed the 2018 God of War reboot), that the studio is "spread out on a lot of different things," fuels speculation. Further adding to the intrigue, Santa Monica Studio's recent recruitment drive for a character artist and tools programmer points towards an expanding team and significant project underway.

The rumor mill points towards a new sci-fi IP, possibly helmed by God of War 3's creative director, Stig Asmussen. While Sony's trademarking of "Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet" earlier this year adds fuel to the fire, official confirmation remains elusive. Past rumors of a cancelled PS4 sci-fi project from the studio further complicate the picture. For now, the mystery persists, leaving fans eagerly awaiting an official announcement.
