The beloved survival horror classics, *Dino Crisis* and *Dino Crisis 2*, have been resurrected on PC through GOG, bringing a wave of nostalgia to fans of the original PlayStation titles. These re-releases are part of GOG's Preservation Program, ensuring the games are available DRM-free and with all their original content intact.
Originally launched by Capcom in 1999, *Dino Crisis* quickly gained a cult following, followed by *Dino Crisis 2* in 2000. The series took a different turn with *Dino Crisis 3* on the original Xbox in 2003, but fans have been left wanting more ever since. Despite calls for a new entry or an HD remake, Capcom seems to have other plans. The 2022 announcement of *Exoprimal*, a multiplayer action game featuring dinosaurs, has been perceived as the final nail in the coffin for the *Dino Crisis* series. Furthermore, in August of last year, series creator Shinji Mikami mentioned that the success of Capcom's *Monster Hunter* franchise leaves little room for a *Dino Crisis* reboot or remake.
The PC ports of the first two *Dino Crisis* games have historically been challenging to find and run on modern systems, making GOG's efforts a welcome relief for enthusiasts. GOG celebrated the re-release by stating, "Thanks to the tremendous efforts of Capcom and GOG, Regina’s iconic line, 'You’re extinct!' no longer applies to the game itself. The timeless thriller that defined a generation of gamers is made to last forever, enhanced for today’s systems, featuring all the original content you loved with numerous improvements."
In addition to these exciting re-releases, GOG has launched its Dreamlist, a community-driven tool where users can vote for games they wish to see revived or added to the platform. These votes help GOG demonstrate community interest to IP owners, increasing the chances of bringing more classic titles back to life.
