Nintendo Switch 2 Essentials: Top Portable Power Picks

Feb 09,2026 Author: Patrick

The Nintendo Switch 2 launches on June 5th. While it's designed for on-the-go play, Nintendo officially states its battery lasts a minimum of just "2 hours" during intensive gaming sessions. That's adequate for a morning commute, but for long flights or extended periods away from a power outlet, a reliable power bank becomes essential.

The Switch 2 packs numerous new hardware features, but it remains a mobile device charged via USB-C. Consequently, nearly any modern power bank is suitable for the console. Specialized power banks for the Switch 2 will inevitably hit the market soon. For example, Genki is developing a magnetic power bank that attaches to a dedicated Switch 2 case, providing charge without a cable running from your pocket. Similar accessories existed for the original Switch, but the Switch 2's larger size renders them incompatible with the new handheld.

1. Anker Nano Power Bank

The Best Overall Power Bank

PROSSuper easy to chargeFeatures a built-in USB-C cable for convenienceCONSNot serviceable if the integrated wall plug fails

The Anker Nano 3-in-1 includes a built-in USB-C cable, but it also offers an extra USB-C port below it for a second charging cable. This flexibility allows you to charge two devices simultaneously and provides a backup if the integrated cable fails, saving you from replacing the entire unit.

The Anker Nano incorporates a built-in wall plug, enabling direct outlet charging without an external adapter. The plug folds flush when not in use, preventing any discomfort in your pocket.

True to its name, the Anker Nano is compact yet delivers surprisingly fast charging for the Switch 2. With a 30W output rating, it may not match the speed of the official power adapter, but it still provides a substantial charge boost, which is impressive for such a small, convenient power bank.

2. Belkin Boost Plus 10K

The Most Portable Power Bank

PROSBuilt-in USB-C and Lightning cablesLightweight and highly portableCONSNo additional USB ports for other cables

The Belkin Boost Plus has been a favorite of mine for some time, primarily because it comes with essential cables built-in. It features both a USB-C and a Lightning cable, which tuck neatly into dedicated side grooves for tidy storage. However, the Lightning cable is essentially redundant for Switch 2 owners.

Its main limitation is the lack of any spare ports for other cables. While not usually a problem, it means if the built-in cables stop working, the power bank becomes unusable. You're trading the versatility of your own cables for the convenience of integrated ones, a trade-off that works well for me but might not suit everyone.

Offering 23W of charging output, this power bank will likely be slower than the included power adapter, but its sleek, lightweight design makes it exceptionally easy to carry. Finding highly portable, high-speed chargers is uncommon, making this a worthwhile compromise.

3. Anker Power Core 24K

An Absolutely Overkill Power Bank

PROSCharges as fast as the Switch 2's wall adapterCan also power your laptopCONS Bulkier and heavier than the Switch 2 itself

Most users are content sacrificing some portability for a mobile charger, even if it's slower than a wall outlet. But if you're impatient like me, a laptop-grade power bank is the answer. The Anker Power Core 24K delivers 45W output, sufficient for fast-charging a MacBook and easily matching the Switch 2's presumed 39W adapter.

There are a couple of considerations. The original Switch didn't fully utilize fast charging; high-wattage chargers didn't harm it but didn't charge faster than the dock. Until the Switch 2 launches, its exact compatibility with powerful chargers is unknown, but opting for an overpowered bank is, at the very least, not going to cause any damage.

The Power Core 24K also boasts a much larger 24,000mAh capacity. That's over four times the capacity of the Switch 2's internal battery. Accounting for some energy loss during charging, it can still fully recharge the device at least three and a half times on a single charge.

Naturally, this extra power comes with trade-offs: the Anker Power Core 24K is more expensive and significantly bulkier than other options. It weighs 1.1lbs, which is indeed heavier than the console. But sometimes, these are the sacrifices for maximum power, right?

Power Banks for Switch 2 FAQ

How powerful of a power bank does the Switch 2 require?

If the Switch 2's power adapter is similar to the original model—and there's little reason to doubt it—the console will include a 39W charger. To match that wall charger's speed, you'll need a robust power bank. Most mainstream models offer 20-30W output, meaning you'll typically sacrifice a bit of charging speed for the benefit of portability.

Is a 10,000mAh power bank enough for the Switch 2?

Yes. The Nintendo Switch 2 features a 5,220mAh battery. A 10,000mAh power bank holds enough charge to fully power up the Switch 2 at least once, with some reserve left for additional playtime.
