Remastered Version Of Horizon Zero Dawn Required
If you're hoping to benefit from two outfits simultaneously, you must be playing the Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered edition. This functionality was introduced in a recent update that added the transmogrification feature. With transmog, players can now retain the stat bonuses of one outfit while wearing the visual appearance of another. This means you no longer have to sacrifice style for performance.
Pre-Requisite For The Two Outfit Method
Before diving into the method, it’s important to note that not all outfits are compatible. One of the outfits you use can be any of your choosing, but the second must be one of the following:
- Banuk Werak Runner
- Banuk Werak Chieftain
- Banuk Werak Chieftain Adept (available only in New Game Plus)
These outfits are exclusive to the Frozen Wilds DLC area and cannot be accessed at the start of the base game. However, you don't need to complete the main story to access this expansion.
How To Get Banuk Werak Outfits In Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered
Banuk Werak Runner
To unlock the Banuk Werak Runner outfit, first, make your way into the Frozen Wilds DLC zone. You may want to either upgrade your gear or lower the difficulty setting if you're struggling with the new machines in the area. Once inside the region, find a Bluegleam Merchant (identified by the blue merchant icon) and purchase the outfit.

Banuk Werak Chieftain & Banuk Werak Chieftain Adept
The Banuk Werak Chieftain is considered the superior variant and is unlocked by completing the "For the Werak" quest—the third main mission in the Frozen Wilds expansion. Be sure to bring your strongest gear into this fight, or switch to Story Mode difficulty for an easier experience.
The Chieftain Adept version follows the same acquisition path but is only available during a New Game+ playthrough.
Once you've obtained one of these secondary outfits, you're ready to proceed. You do not need to complete the rest of the Frozen Wilds content if you'd prefer to skip ahead.
What To Do To Get the Effects Of Two Outfits
Start by equipping the outfit whose stats you want to retain. Remember, outfit performance can be enhanced using Weaves, so choose wisely. Next, open the transmog menu and select the visual appearance of one of the three compatible Banuk Werak outfits.
Although the transmog outfit doesn't provide additional stat bonuses, it does grant the passive healing effect after a short period without taking damage.
This clever trick allows you to maintain your preferred build while gaining the automatic healing perk from the Banuk Werak line. If your primary outfit is the Shield Weaver, this combo becomes nearly unstoppable—you’ll rarely take damage, and when you do, the Werak healing ability activates shortly afterward.
Keep in mind: The healing effect from the Chieftain and Chieftain Adept versions triggers more quickly than the Banuk Werak Runner. If available, prioritize those for optimal results.
