Zynga is introducing nostalgic excitement to Custom Street Racer 2 (CSR2) with a special crossover event commemorating Back to the Future's 40th anniversary - celebrating the iconic 1985 Robert Zemeckis film.
CSR2 Brings the Past to the Present
Available now, players can obtain and race the legendary DeLorean Time Machine from the original movie. While it doesn't feature performance enhancements or special abilities, it remains a fully functional vehicle. Beyond the car itself, CSR2 is launching a complete Back to the Future-themed experience.
The collaboration includes customized film-inspired UI elements, a fresh storyline, and multiple in-game events. Players can participate in three special Time Machine challenges plus a community-wide competitive event.
Zynga confirms additional Back to the Future content will roll out throughout 2024, transforming this into an extended celebration rather than just a temporary update. Currently, CSR2 is hosting social media contests where participants can win exclusive rewards - follow their social channels for details.
A Legendary Collaboration
Sam Cooper, Zynga's VP of Games, describes the Time Machine as one of cinema's most famous and cherished vehicles. He emphasizes the excitement of letting players virtually experience this iconic car while honoring the film's anniversary.
While the game won't transport you to 1955 like the movie (or similar to Reverse:1999's time-travel mechanics), this collaboration delivers unique nostalgic value. The instantly recognizable gull-winged DeLorean becomes a drivable in-game vehicle - an exciting prospect for fans and racers alike.
Custom Street Racer 2 is available for download on Google Play Store. Before you go, check out our coverage of Dead Cells' final Android updates for more gaming news.
