Hideki Kamiya Wants To Do Devil May Cry Remake
Devil May Cry Remake Will Not Be Made Like 24 Years Ago
The trend of remaking classic games has captured the attention of legendary developers, bringing new life to titles like Final Fantasy VII, Silent Hill 2, and Resident Evil 4. Now, Devil May Cry might join this esteemed list, as its creator, Hideki Kamiya, has voiced his enthusiasm for a remake.
In a video posted on his YouTube channel on May 8, Kamiya engaged with fans, discussing remakes and sequels. When posed with the idea of remaking Devil May Cry, he responded positively, stating, "A remake like that, well, I would like to do that."
First Released 2001

Originally launched in 2001, Devil May Cry was initially conceived as Resident Evil 4. However, the project evolved significantly, leading Capcom to birth the Devil May Cry series instead.
Reflecting on the game's creation nearly 25 years later, Kamiya shared a personal story. In 2000, after experiencing a painful breakup, he channeled his emotions into the development of DMC. This emotional turmoil became a driving force behind the game's unique style and atmosphere.

Kamiya admitted that he rarely replays his games post-release, including DMC. However, when he occasionally encounters gameplay clips, he recognizes the game's age and its dated design elements. Should he undertake a remake, Kamiya envisions building it entirely from scratch, leveraging modern technology and contemporary game design philosophies.
Currently, his thoughts on the project remain casual, as he only develops detailed plans when a project is confirmed. Yet, he confidently stated, "But if the time comes— I’ll come up with something. That’s what I do." Beyond Devil May Cry, Kamiya also expressed interest in remaking Viewtiful Joe. With these insights, fans of Kamiya's work eagerly anticipate the potential revival of these cherished titles through innovative remakes.
