Conquering Lu Bu in Dynasty Warriors: Origins: A Comprehensive Guide

The game repeatedly warns against facing Lu Bu, but victory is possible with the right strategy. This guide details how to defeat this formidable foe.

Should You Fight Lu Bu?

While challenging, defeating Lu Bu offers significant rewards: bragging rights, story progression (if playing Shu or Wei), the "The Strongest" trophy, and the game's ultimate weapon, the halberd (in post-game).

Phase 1: Mounted Lu Bu

Before the battle, equip a multi-hit sword for staggering, Battle Arts with low Bravery requirements, wide range, and quick activation (e.g., Falcon Flurry, Mad Blade Rush, Absconding Slash, Flying Dragon Slash). Essential accessories include those boosting health and defense (Divine Bird’s Wing and Divine Turtle’s Shell). A weapon granting Bravery on Perfect Evades is crucial.

Lu Bu initially charges on Red Hare. His attacks have limited AOE, except for Red Hare's jump attack. Attack when he pauses, then retreat. Once his health reaches 80%, he dismounts.

Phase 2: Lu Bu on Foot

On foot, Lu Bu is incredibly aggressive. He moves rapidly, often with a red aura indicating uninterruptible combos. Evade his charges (three in a set). A grab attack, easily evaded, precedes some charges.

His most dangerous move is a three-arrow volley (orange aura). Use a ranged Battle Art like Absconding Slash to counter; close-range arts are fatal. Keep your Musou gauge ready for invincibility. Lu Bu is easily juggled, allowing rapid Battle Art recharge and Fortitude meter depletion. Stay close for better reaction time. Prioritize evasion.

Phase 3: Lu Bu's Musou Rage

Depleting Lu Bu's health triggers Musou Rage. He becomes unstaggerable and unleashes relentless attacks. The objective is to deplete his Fortitude before his Musou attack. Use all available resources: Musou attacks, Battle Arts, and rapid attacks. Failing to break his Fortitude restarts the phase.

Victory!

By following this strategy, you can overcome Lu Bu in Dynasty Warriors: Origins, currently available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
