Mastering Rune Slayer: Essential Tips for New Players

After a long wait and a couple of bumpy launches, Rune Slayer is finally here, and it's fantastic! While incredibly fun, there's a learning curve, especially for MMORPG newcomers. This guide offers crucial early-game advice to smooth your adventure.

Here are some things we wish we'd known sooner:

Avoid Unprovoked PvP

Initially, the full-loot PvP aspect worried us. However, death doesn't result in item loss. The catch? Attacking players incurs a bounty. More kills mean a larger bounty, leading to greater item loss upon your own death. Essentially, full-loot PvP is self-imposed. Unless you're strategically ganking with friends, avoid attacking other players.

Craft Bags Immediately

Inventory and bank space are severely limited. Fortunately, you can craft bags. Two can be equipped simultaneously, starting with the Cotton Bag. Find Cotton north of Wayshire and Flax south (be cautious of mobs in the south). Each Cotton Bag adds 10 slots – craft them early!

Pets Don't Perish

Contrary to initial impressions, your pets don't die permanently. After reaching zero health, they have a 5-minute summon cooldown (check with the 'T' key). To quickly heal your pet, store and retrieve it at the stable master (you have one free slot).

Accept All Quests

The sheer number of quests might seem daunting, but most are simple "kill X" tasks. To streamline progress, accept every quest you encounter, including those from the job board. Often, quests can be combined, making progress more efficient.

Craft Everything (At Least Once)

Prioritize crafting necessities, but use spare materials to experiment. Initial crafting often unlocks more advanced recipes. For example, smelting Iron Ore unlocked new Iron Armor crafting options for us.

Join a Guild

While Rune Slayer is solo-friendly, tougher enemies are best tackled in groups. Joining a guild is the easiest way to find groupmates. Use general chat or the official Rune Slayer Discord to find a guild and conquer challenging foes.

Enjoy Rune Slayer! For further assistance, consult the official Rune Slayer Trello and Discord server.
