"Sony's Summer 2025 State of Play Sets New Viewing Record"

The June 2025 State of Play showcase from Sony proved to be a major hit, setting a new peak concurrent viewership record for the company. As the summer games reveal season kicked into high gear, Sony delivered an exciting lineup filled with anticipated titles such as *007 First Light*, *Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls*, *Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles*, *Romeo is a Dead Man*, and *Silent Hill f*. The event successfully captured the attention of gamers worldwide, drawing in an impressive audience.

According to data from Streams Charts, this State of Play reached a historic milestone, peaking at over 2.2 million live viewers simultaneously—marking the highest concurrent viewership ever recorded for a State of Play broadcast. In terms of popularity among 2025's tech or gaming showcases, it ranks third by this metric alone. Only two Nintendo Direct events surpassed it, with Nintendo’s Switch 2 reveal leading by a significant margin.

As noted by Push Square, while this State of Play wasn’t Sony’s most-watched livestream overall, it still made a strong impact. That distinction remains with the PS5 reveal event, which currently holds an impressive 44 million views. Other popular streams include the *Horizon Forbidden West* and *Horizon Forbidden Dawn* reveals, which pulled in 15 million and 10 million views respectively. However, Tuesday’s presentation was undoubtedly the most successful State of Play episode to date in terms of real-time engagement.

The broadcast leaned heavily on third-party partners, especially those based in Japan, with notable contributions from studios like Capcom, Grasshopper Manufacture, Konami, ArtPlay, Square Enix, and Team Ninja. Surprisingly, there were fewer first-party PlayStation titles featured than many had expected.

Additionally, the tone of the showcase felt tailored toward core gamers, with a clear emphasis on action-packed experiences. Many of the revealed titles appeared likely to carry mature or 18+ ratings, signaling a deliberate shift toward older demographics and dedicated players.
