Metro 15th Anniversary Updates
Metro 2033 Redux Is Free Until April 16

In celebration of its 15th anniversary, Metro is offering Metro 2033 Redux for free, but only for the next 48 hours. 4A Games made the announcement via Metro's official Twitter (X) account on April 14, stating that the game is available for free on Steam and Xbox until April 16 at 3 PM UTC / 5 PM CET / 9 AM PT.
This initiative aims to introduce new players to the series, starting with the game that began it all. Additionally, 4A Games shared their plans for Metro's 15th anniversary in a blog post on their official website on March 16. The post detailed their intention to celebrate throughout the year with events, deals, and special content on Metro's social media channels, expressing gratitude to the players who have joined them on this journey.

4A Games, originally founded in Kyiv, Ukraine, and later expanded to Malta, draws its inspiration from the works of Russian author Dmitry Glukhovsky, particularly his science fiction novel Metro 2033 and its sequels. Amidst the ongoing challenges in Ukraine, 4A Games continues to weave themes of war into their narratives. They emphasized, "These circumstances are incredibly challenging, the situation remains dangerous and not within our control, but we are currently as safe as possible, and we want to manage your expectations around the reveal of the next Metro title, it will be ready when it is ready, and we can’t wait for you to see it."
The Next Metro

4A Games is currently working on two triple-A projects: the next installment in the Metro series and a brand new IP. While details on the new IP remain under wraps, the developers have shared insights into the development of the next Metro game.
The ongoing conflict in Ukraine has profoundly influenced the direction of the next Metro title. As stated in a previous studio update, "As we said in our last studio update, in 2022 a full-scale russian invasion changed how we wanted to tell the story of the next Metro game. As art became life for many of our developers in Ukraine, we drew from that lived experience to create an even darker story, those themes already present in Metro becoming ever-more apparent and important."
Despite the adversities faced by their country, 4A Games remains committed to delivering impactful and reality-inspired stories. They are determined to overcome these challenges and deliver a high-quality game that continues the Metro legacy, making its narrative more relevant than ever.
