NieR

NieR: Automata boasts a diverse arsenal of weapons, allowing players to experiment across multiple playthroughs. Each weapon offers upgrade potential, extending their viability and enabling completion of the game with a variety of favorites.

Weapon upgrades are readily available at the Resistance Camp, but require specific resources. One crucial, yet less common material is Beast Hides. This guide details efficient farming strategies.

Obtaining Beast Hides in NieR: Automata

Beast Hides are dropped by wildlife, such as moose and boar. These creatures randomly appear in designated map areas, generally avoiding players and robots. Their white icons on the mini-map distinguish them from the black icons of machines. However, unlike machines, wildlife respawns are less predictable, requiring strategic searching.

Moose and boar are exclusive to the ruined city and forest zones. Their behavior (fleeing or attacking) depends on the level disparity between the player and the animal. Higher-level animals may become aggressive even without direct provocation. Wildlife possesses substantial health, making early-game encounters challenging, especially against similarly leveled or stronger creatures.

Animal Bait can lure wildlife, simplifying the hunting process.

Since wildlife doesn't continuously respawn during the main storyline, hunting requires exploration and strategic relocation. Respawn mechanics mirror those of machines:

  • Fast traveling resets all enemies and wildlife.
  • Sufficient distance traveled triggers respawns in previously visited areas.
  • Story progression can also initiate respawns.

Efficient Beast Hide farming lacks a straightforward method. Consistently eliminating encountered wildlife in forest and city ruin areas generally provides sufficient hides. The drop rate is relatively high, ensuring you rarely need excessive quantities beyond immediate equipment needs.
