Nintendo Virtual Boy games are coming to Switch and Switch 2 through the Nintendo Switch Online subscription service next month — with two previously unreleased titles now officially confirmed.
Nintendo’s controversial retro virtual reality console, the Virtual Boy, will officially launch on Nintendo Switch Online on February 17, following its announcement last year. A total of seven Virtual Boy games will be available at launch, with nine more to follow later — including Zero Racer and D-Hopper, which never saw a public release in the 1990s.
Originally released by Nintendo in 1995, the Virtual Boy failed to gain widespread appeal and was discontinued shortly after launch. Over the years, it has become a sought-after collector’s item, and its games remained largely inaccessible — until now.

To experience the Virtual Boy games, you’ll need a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription, as well as a dedicated Virtual Boy accessory to view their stereoscopic 3D visuals. You can choose between the official Virtual Boy accessory for Nintendo Switch / Switch 2, priced at $99.99, or a more affordable cardboard alternative available for $24.99.
At launch, you’ll be able to rewind gameplay, create save states, and remap controls — just like with other Nintendo Switch Online titles. In the future, you’ll also gain the ability to adjust the screen’s color.
No timeline has been announced for additional games arriving after the February 17 launch. For now, here’s the complete launch lineup and upcoming additions.
