Nintendo has announced the pricing for upgrading two more games from the original Switch to the Switch 2 Edition, Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree, and the cost is significantly higher than expected. While it costs $9.99 to upgrade The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom from the Switch 1 to the Switch 2 Edition, NintendoLife reports that the upgrades for both Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree are more than double that price each.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Enhanced Edition of Breath of the Wild boasts improved visuals and performance, achievements, and support for the new "Zelda Notes" service within the Nintendo Switch Online app. If you already own Breath of the Wild on the Switch, you can purchase an "upgrade pack" for $10 to enjoy these enhancements.
The Switch 2 Edition of Kirby and the Forgotten Land introduces new story content in the "Star-Crossed World." Meanwhile, Super Mario Party Jamboree’s Switch 2 Edition includes "Jamboree TV," a new feature that utilizes the Joy-Con 2 mouse controls, Switch 2 microphone, and the Switch 2 USB-C camera (sold separately). This edition also offers enhanced resolution up to 1440p in TV mode, improved frame rates, new minigames, and expanded online functionalities.
Although U.S. prices on the American Nintendo eShop are not yet available—possibly due to uncertainties related to President Trump's tariffs—the UK Nintendo eShop lists the Kirby and the Forgotten Land upgrade pack at £16.99 / €19.99, more than double the £7.99 / €9.99 charged for upgrading either Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom. The same pricing applies to the Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV upgrade, suggesting a U.S. price of $19.99.
The elevated upgrade cost might be influenced by the higher price of the full Switch 2 Editions. Both Kirby and The Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star Crossed World and Super Mario Party Jamboree - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV are priced at $79.99, $20 more than their original Switch versions, which cost $59.99 each.
Here's a look at the pricing for the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition games in the U.S. for those not upgrading:
- Kirby and The Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star Crossed World - $79.99
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - $69.99
- Super Mario Party Jamboree - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV - $79.99
- The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - $79.99
It's worth noting that both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom upgrade packs are available at no additional cost to Nintendo Switch Online and Expansion Pack subscribers. However, there is no similar offer for those looking to upgrade Kirby or Super Mario Party Jamboree at this time.
Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders opened on April 24, with the console priced at $449.99. The demand was exceptionally high, and Nintendo has cautioned U.S. customers who pre-ordered via the My Nintendo Store that delivery on the release date is not guaranteed.
