Nintendo to Shut Down Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp

Yes, you read that right—Nintendo has officially announced the end of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. The beloved mobile title is set to lose its online services, and fans around the world are expressing their surprise and sadness. But what led to this decision? Let’s break it down.

So, When Exactly Is Pocket Camp Shutting Down?

The final day for online services in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp will be November 28, 2024, just days after the game celebrates its seventh anniversary on November 21st. It's a bittersweet conclusion to a journey many players have cherished over the years.

From October 28, 2024, auto-renewals for the Pocket Camp Club subscription will no longer be processed. If your membership remains active beyond this date, no refunds will be issued—but don’t worry, you’ll receive a special badge delivered straight to your in-game mailbox as a token of appreciation.

Mark your calendars: November 26, 2024 is the last day you can purchase Leaf Tickets. And at 7:00 AM PST on November 28, the servers will permanently go offline, bringing an end to the social features that made the game so engaging.

Here’s Some Good News: An Offline Version Is Coming

While the online experience is coming to a close, Nintendo isn't saying goodbye entirely. A paid offline version of Pocket Camp is currently in development. While you won’t be able to trade items, visit friends’ campsites, or access live events anymore, the core gameplay loop will remain intact.

Your existing save data will carry over, allowing you to continue customizing your campsite without needing an internet connection. More details about this new version are expected to surface by October 2024, so stay tuned for updates.

A Pattern of Mobile Retreat

If this news feels familiar, it’s because Nintendo has been gradually stepping back from its mobile gaming strategy. Titles like Dr. Mario World, Dragalia Lost, and even Mario Kart Tour have either been discontinued or placed into maintenance mode. This move signals yet another shift in the company’s mobile direction.

Still, if you’d like to enjoy the final days of Pocket Camp, you can download or re-install the game directly from the Google Play Store. And don’t forget to check out our next article covering Monument Valley 3, now available on Netflix!
