Pokémon Company Tackles TCG Shortages, Scalpers Post-Destined Rivals

May 27,2025 Author: Bella

The Pokémon Company has taken a significant step in addressing the concerns of Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) fans regarding the availability of recent sets. In a recent statement, the company announced plans for reprints of sought-after sets, acknowledging the challenges fans face in acquiring these products.

The latest set, Destined Rivals, along with other popular releases such as Prismatic Evolutions and the Blooming Waters box, have been met with high demand, leading to shortages and pre-order issues. Scalpers have also been a notable problem, exacerbating the situation for dedicated fans.

In a statement on their official site, The Pokémon Company recognized that many fans are "experiencing difficulties purchasing certain Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) products due to very high demand impacting availability." They expressed their understanding of the disappointment this causes and assured fans that they are "actively working to print more of the impacted Pokémon TCG products as quickly as possible and at maximum capacity." The company anticipates that reprints will be available at participating retailers in the near future.

Furthermore, The Pokémon Company committed to "maximizing production" for future TCG expansions to ensure greater product availability at launch. They also pledged to "continue to reprint impacted products" to maintain stock levels, including at the Pokémon Center.

Addressing the issue of scalping indirectly, the company emphasized their dedication to providing a seamless purchasing experience at the Pokémon Center. They employ technology such as a virtual queue during high-traffic periods to prioritize fans. The Pokémon Company stated, "We will continue to explore measures that help create the best possible experience for Pokémon Center customers." They extended their gratitude to the community for their continued support and patience as they work to improve the availability of Pokémon TCG products.

This proactive approach from The Pokémon Company is a promising sign for fans. Hopefully, these efforts will lead to a more enjoyable and less stressful experience when new Pokémon TCG sets are released.
