精灵的服从度一直是宝可梦系列游戏中的重要机制，从初代至今，其机制也经历了一些变化。通常情况下，精灵在等级达到20级之前都会服从训练家的指令。要提升20级以上的精灵服从度，需要收集道馆徽章。宝可梦朱紫的服从度机制与前几代基本相同，等级过高的精灵有时会拒绝指令。然而，朱紫版中存在一个与前几代截然不同的主要区别。
朱紫版精灵服从度机制
与剑盾不同，精灵的服从度由捕捉时的等级决定。游戏初期，“等级20级或以下的精灵会服从你的指令”。这意味着，等级高于20级的精灵在你获得第一个道馆徽章之前不会听从你的命令。如果你捕捉到的精灵等级在服从度范围内，即使其等级超过限制，它也会继续服从你的命令。
例如，你没有任何徽章，成功捕捉到一只20级的火斑喵。你用它进行战斗/自动战斗，火斑喵的等级提升到21级。即使它已经是21级，它仍然会听从你的指令。但是，如果你在没有任何徽章的情况下捕捉到一只21级的火斑喵，那么在你获得第一个徽章之前，它不会服从你的命令。
如果你试图让不服从的精灵进行自动战斗，它会拒绝命令，你会在屏幕左下角看到其图标上出现一个蓝色的对话框。在战斗中，当你试图让它战斗时，精灵可能不会使用招式。在某些情况下，精灵会进入睡眠状态或因混乱而自残。
徽章与精灵服从度等级
你可以通过查看训练家卡片来查看精灵服从你的等级：
如果你想捕捉更强大的精灵并让它们听从你的命令，你需要完成“冠军之路”故事任务。这需要收集帕底亚地区的8枚道馆徽章，然后挑战宝可梦联盟。每次获得徽章，精灵的服从度等级都会提高5级。
由于朱紫版是开放世界游戏，你可以（几乎）按照任何顺序挑战道馆馆主。如果你刚开始游戏，你可能想先挑战卡拉曼达道馆或蒙特内罗道馆。
以下是徽章对应的服从度等级：

服从度等级由你拥有的徽章数量决定，而不是道馆馆主。换句话说，你可以先击败马修，徽章会将服从度等级提高到25级。如果你在击败马修后挑战阿雅，那么服从度等级就会提高到30级。
转移或交换的精灵是否仍然服从？
每只精灵都有一个名为OT（Original Trainer，原训练家）的ID。在朱紫版之前，OT也会影响精灵的服从度。如果你通过交换获得一只精灵（即：具有不同的OT/ID编号），并且它的等级超过了服从度等级，那么它就会停止听从你的命令。
在朱紫版中，OT不会影响服从度。如果你将精灵转移/交换到你的存档中，那么精灵转移/交换时的等级将被视为其“相遇等级”。
例如，一只以17级交换给你的精灵，即使你之后将其等级提升到超过20级，它仍然会服从你的命令。如果你得到一只21级的精灵，那么它就不会听从你的命令。
