The Pokemon Company Issues Statement on Pokemon TCG Prismatic Evolutions Shortage

The Pokémon Company addresses widespread shortages of its highly anticipated Scarlet and Violet—Prismatic Evolutions trading card game expansion. Acknowledging the significant supply issues impacting global availability, including the US, the company assures fans that reprints are underway.

This statement, the first public acknowledgment of the problem, follows weeks of fan complaints on social media regarding difficulty obtaining the set, which launched pre-orders in early November 2024 and is officially released January 17th, 2025. The Pokémon Company representative, speaking to IGN, stated that they are "actively working to print more of the impacted Pokémon TCG products as quickly as possible and at maximum capacity."

Reprint Timeline and Scalping Concerns:

While the company confirmed that reprints are in production and will soon reach licensed distributors, a specific release date for these reprints was not provided. Although online speculation points to scalpers as a contributing factor to the shortages, The Pokémon Company attributed the issue to "high demand."

Future Releases:

Beyond the reprints, The Pokémon Company confirmed additional Prismatic Evolutions products are planned for release in the coming months, as previously announced:

  • Mini Tin and Surprise Box: February 7th, 2025
  • Booster Bundle: March 7th, 2025
  • Accessory Pouch Special Collection: April 25th, 2025
  • Super-Premium Collection: May 16th, 2025
  • Premium Figure Collection: September 26th, 2025

Players can also obtain Prismatic Evolutions cards starting January 16th, 2025, through the Pokémon TCG Live mobile game's Battle Pass. The Pokémon Company expressed gratitude for fans' patience and reiterated their commitment to resolving the supply issues.
