Pokémon TCG Vending Machines: A Fan's Guide
Pokémon fans are buzzing about the automated Pokémon vending machines popping up across the US. These aren't your average snack dispensers; they offer a convenient way to grab Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) merchandise.
What are they?
These machines, initially trialled in Washington in 2017, dispense a range of Pokémon TCG products. Unlike older models, these use touchscreens for easy browsing and credit card payment. The experience is enhanced with charming Pokémon animations. While a digital receipt is emailed, returns aren't accepted.

What do they sell?
Primarily, US Pokémon vending machines stock Pokémon TCG products such as Elite Trainer Boxes and booster packs. While stock varies, my recent visit to a Kroger location showed a good selection, even after a busy holiday weekend. Note that these machines generally don't sell plushies, apparel, or video games – those are typically found in dedicated Pokémon Centers (though some older, more diverse machines are being phased out).
Finding a Machine Near You
The official Pokémon Center website maintains an up-to-date list of US locations. Currently, machines are available in Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Nevada, Ohio, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin. The site allows you to check for nearby stores (partners include Albertsons, Fred Meyer, Frys, Kroger, Pick ‘n Save, Safeway, Smith’s, and Tom Thumb). While distribution isn't uniform, the list is updated regularly, and you can follow it for notifications of new machine installations.
