Midjiwan has released a significant update for The Battle of Polytopia, completely revamping the Aquarion Tribe. This update overhauls the original special tribe, first introduced in 2017.
Aquarion's Aquatic Transformation
The Aquarion units now boast mermaid tails, making them amphibious or fully aquatic. This allows for effortless water traversal, although land movement is slower. A new flooded terrain mechanic allows land and naval units to occupy the same space for the first time.
Buildings have also received an aquatic makeover. Construction on water is now possible, and Lost Cities are hidden within deep-sea ruins, providing ideal bases for seafaring warfare. A new structure, the Atoll, connects water cities, eliminating the need for roads. Aqua Crops, a permanent addition, function similarly to land crops.
New Aquatic Units
Prepare to encounter new sea creatures: Sharks ambush, Puffers provide long-range bombardment, and Jellies unleash electric shocks. Returning favorites, the Tridentions and Crabs, are also present; Crabs now flood crossed tiles, synergizing perfectly with the mermaid units. See it in action:
A Revitalized Tribe
Midjiwan has successfully rejuvenated the Aquarion Tribe. Note that Lost Cities appear at level 3, already fortified with walls.
