Gamescom 2024 buzzed with whispers about the PlayStation 5 Pro, its potential specifications fueling speculation among developers and journalists alike. This article explores the PS5 Pro rumors, potential specs, and the discussions surrounding its release.
PS5 Pro Dominates Gamescom 2024 Conversations
Developers Adjust Release Plans for Anticipated PS5 Pro Launch
The anticipation surrounding the PlayStation 5 Pro, fueled by earlier leaks, reached fever pitch at Gamescom 2024. Developers openly discussed the console, with some even delaying game releases to coincide with its launch, according to Alessio Palumbo of Wccftech.
Palumbo reported a significant detail: an anonymous developer, without prompting, revealed receiving PS5 Pro specifications and confirmed Unreal Engine 5's vastly improved performance on the new hardware compared to the standard PS5.
This corroborates a Multiplayer.it livestream report of a developer delaying a game launch to align with the PS5 Pro's rumored arrival. Palumbo notes this was a different developer from the one he spoke to, and the studio was not a major one, suggesting widespread access to PS5 Pro specs among developers.
Imminent PS5 Pro Release Predicted by Analyst
Reinforcing Palumbo's findings and the Gamescom discussions, analyst William R. Aguilar hinted on X in July that Sony would likely announce the PS5 Pro later this year. He suggested a September 2024 State of Play announcement, a move necessary to avoid impacting current PS5 sales.
This aligns with the PlayStation 4 Pro's 2016 release, announced September 7th and launched November 10th. Palumbo suggests that if Sony follows a similar pattern, an official announcement is imminent.
