Hollow Knight: Silksong continues to capture the hearts and minds of fans worldwide, and recent updates from Team Cherry’s Marketing and PR Manager, Matthew Griffin, have reignited hope. Dive into the latest details and speculations surrounding this eagerly awaited sequel!
This Is Not A Joke, Silksong Is Real
Confirmed By Team Cherry’s Griffin
Following the buzz about a mysterious cake that stirred up speculation, Hollow Knight enthusiasts can breathe a sigh of relief. Team Cherry’s Marketing and Publishing Head, Matthew "Leth" Griffin, has confirmed that Silksong is indeed real and actively in development. Griffin took to X (formerly Twitter) to address a fan's plea for reassurance about the game's progress.
The intrigue began when Hollow Knight co-creator William Pellen changed his X profile picture to an image of a cake, sparking wild theories among fans. Some believed it hinted at a Silksong ARG or an announcement related to the Nintendo Switch 2. However, YouTuber fireb0rn reached out to Griffin, only to discover that Pellen's tweet was a "nothingburger"—just a harmless change with no deeper meaning. Fireb0rn apologized for the confusion, humorously noting, "The cake was a lie."

Despite the false alarm, Griffin reaffirmed the game's status, stating, "Yes the game is real, progressing and will release." This update marks the first significant communication from Team Cherry about Silksong in over a year and a half.
Silksong’s Six-Year-Long History

First unveiled in February 2019, Silksong was initially set to launch in the first half of 2023. However, in May 2023, Team Cherry announced a delay, citing the game's expanded scope and their desire to enhance it further. Silksong promises to transport players to a new kingdom, introduce nearly 150 new enemies, and feature a new difficulty mode called Silk Soul. After nearly two years since the last update, fans are finally getting some news, albeit brief.
Reactions to the update have been mixed. Some fans are grateful for the reassurance and encourage Team Cherry to take their time, while others, tired of waiting nearly six years, are frustrated with what they perceive as minimal communication about this much-anticipated title.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is slated for release on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. Players will follow Hornet, the princess-protector of Hallownest, on her perilous journey through a new world, aiming to reach the kingdom's peak. While no specific release window has been announced yet, stay tuned for more updates and announcements!
