A PlayStation studio, newly formed from former Bungie employees, is reportedly developing a MOBA titled "Gummy Bears." Initially conceived at Bungie, this project, codenamed "Gummy Bears," has undergone a developer shift, with a team of approximately 40 individuals now leading its creation.
This unique MOBA, rumored to be in development since at least 2020, draws inspiration from the Super Smash Bros. franchise. Instead of traditional health bars, Gummy Bears will utilize a percentage-based damage system, influencing knockback distance and ultimately leading to characters being knocked off the map when damage reaches a critical threshold.
The game is designed with a distinct aesthetic, described as "cozy, vibrant, and lo-fi," a departure from Bungie's previous titles. It will feature three character classes—Attack, Defense, and Support—and multiple game modes. Targeting a younger audience than Bungie's typical player base, Gummy Bears aims to establish a new identity within the PlayStation first-party lineup. While the release date remains uncertain, the game is expected to be several years from launch.
