Squid Game: Unleashed is celebrating the arrival of season two with a wave of fresh content! Get ready for new characters, a brand-new map, and exciting challenges. Plus, exclusive in-game rewards await those who watch the new episodes!
Netflix's surprise holiday release of Squid Game: Unleashed – a free-to-play battle royale experience – was a bold move. Now, they're cleverly incentivizing both subscribers and non-subscribers with rewards tied to watching season two.
What's in store for existing players? Starting January 3rd, a new map inspired by the season two mini-game, Mingle, will launch. Three new playable avatars – Geum-Ja, Yong-Sik, and rapper Thanos – will also debut throughout January.
Geum-Ja and Thanos each have special in-game events on January 3rd and 9th respectively, to unlock them. Viewers of season two can earn in-game Cash and Wild Tokens, with watching up to seven episodes unlocking the Binni Binge-Watcher outfit!

Here's the January content schedule for Squid Game: Unleashed:
- January 3rd: Mingle map and Geum-Ja character launch. The Dalgona Mash Up Collection Event (until January 9th) challenges players to complete Mingle mini-games and collect Dalgona tins.
- January 9th: Thanos arrives with his own recruitment event, the Thanos’ Red Light Challenge (until January 14th). Eliminate players using knives to unlock him.
- January 16th: Yong-Sik joins the game as the final character addition in this update.
Squid Game: Unleashed could be a game-changer for Netflix's gaming ambitions. The free-to-play model was a risk, but rewarding Netflix subscribers and encouraging viewership is a clever strategy to boost both the game and the show's popularity.
