This guide details how to obtain and utilize Prismatic Shards in Stardew Valley, updated for version 1.6. Prismatic Shards are rare, rainbow-colored gemstones with multiple valuable uses.
Finding Prismatic Shards:
Several locations offer a chance to find Prismatic Shards, though the probability varies:
- Mines (Bottom): 0.05% chance from monsters.
- Fish Ponds (Rainbow Trout): 0.09% chance from the chum bucket (requires at least 9 Rainbow Trout).
- Skull Cavern: 0.1% chance from Serpents, Mummies, Wilderness Golems, and Iridium Golems (after Combat Level 10).
- Omni Geodes/Mystery Boxes: 0.4% chance inside.
- Golden Mystery Boxes: 0.79% chance inside.
- Iridium Nodes (Skull Cavern, Volcano Dungeon, Quarry): 3.5% chance.
- Treasure Chests (Skull Cavern): Approximately 3.8% chance.
- Mystic Nodes (Skull Cavern, Quarry, Mines - floors 100+): 25% chance.
- Meteorites: 25% chance from a meteorite impacting your farm.

- Gifting: A "Loved" gift for most villagers (except Haley).
- Galaxy Sword: Transforms into the Galaxy Sword when used at the three obelisks in the Calico Desert.
- Weapon Enchanting: Used with Cinder Shards to enhance weapons at the Volcano Forge.
- Trading: Exchanged for Magic Rock Candy with the Calico Desert trader (Thursdays). Can also be used in a sinister trade at the Witch's Hut.
