With all the major studios and publishers having unveiled their biggest announcements through the summer showcases, IGN's Summer of Gaming is still in full swing. We've already highlighted the biggest and best trailers of the season, and now it's time to focus on the larger question: Which games are we most excited about and counting down the days until their eventual release?
That's why we're here today to showcase our most anticipated games—and determine which one tops our list. Our top choice was selected from a pool that includes every reveal across the various shows we’ve watched, as well as the games we’ve had the chance to go hands-on with. We’ve also factored in the enthusiasm you, our readers and viewers, have shown for the many newly-announced titles. We weighed your comments and trailer views alongside our own excitement.
Before we announce our top pick, let’s take a moment to reflect on some of the other incredible games we’ve seen and played over the past couple of weeks. Here are a few of our other favorites:
5. Ninja Gaiden 4

While Souls-likes have dominated the action-RPG genre over the last decade, the hack-and-slash revival is in full swing, thanks to titles like Ninja Gaiden 4. Team Ninja and PlatinumGames, two of Japan’s leading character action developers, have teamed up for this direct sequel to 2012's Ninja Gaiden 3.
This high-speed action game made a stylish debut with a visually striking trailer, but our 25-minute hands-on session left us eager for much more. Super-fast and intensely gory, Ninja Gaiden 4 makes you feel like the ultimate killing machine—provided you have the skill to juggle foes and execute the right combos. Fortunately, we won’t have to wait long: it launches on all platforms on October 21, 2025.
4. Silent Hill Remake

It may have been just a logo and a nostalgic musical cue at the end of Konami’s Press Start livestream, but the news that Bloober Team—the studio behind the Silent Hill 2 remake—is now tackling the original Silent Hill in its next collaboration with Konami was enough to get everyone talking.
The original Silent Hill launched one of the most terrifying and beloved video game franchises in history. Though ahead of its time in many ways when it released in 1998, it hasn’t aged gracefully. A remake crafted with the same attention to detail Bloober applied to its sequel is an incredibly exciting prospect.
3. Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls

Step aside, Marvel vs. Capcom—there's a new superhero fighting game in town. The standout surprise of PlayStation’s latest State of Play was Arc System Works’ Marvel Tokon, a 4v4 tag-team fighter featuring Marvel heroes like Iron Man and Captain America reimagined through a Japanese aesthetic. Arc System Works is already celebrated for its visually stunning and mechanically deep fighters like Guilty Gear and Dragon Ball FighterZ. With Disney's backing, Marvel Tokon could propel this beloved niche developer to new heights. The intricate mechanics and depth shown in the lengthy reveal edged it just ahead of our excitement for another superhero fighting game announced this summer—Invincible VS. And with 4v4 combat instead of 3v3, that extra hero slot only boosts our anticipation.
2. 007 First Light

IO Interactive finally unveiled its long-awaited 007 game—and surprise!—it looks absolutely fantastic. While the studio's usual protagonist, Agent 47, is an emotionless assassin, the young James Bond in 007 First Light appears to be having the time of his life as he embarks on the journey to become the world’s most famous secret agent (a mission that, admittedly, sounds somewhat contradictory).
The trailer has everything you’d want from a James Bond game: exotic locations, sleek sports cars, laser wristwatches, a bit of flirting, and plenty of explosions. Combine that with IOI's promise of the same level of freedom found in the Hitman: World of Assassination trilogy, and 007 First Light is a game we simply can’t wait to play. Plus, with a 2026 release window, this will likely be our first major Bond adventure since Daniel Craig's departure. The only reason it isn't our most anticipated game overall is that we haven't had the chance to play it ourselves and can't yet vouch for its quality. We’ll keep our fingers crossed for gamescom 2025…
So, those are four reveals of varying scale that have us excited for the future. But the big one—our top pick—is something arriving relatively soon, and something we've already experienced hands-on. Given our love for its predecessors, we’re hopeful it will carry on the series’ legacy and deliver one of this generation's finest survival horror experiences. Our most anticipated game from the Summer of Gaming is…
1. Resident Evil Requiem

Capcom pulled off an epic bait-and-switch during Summer Game Fest 2025, hinting that there would be no official Resident Evil 9 announcement—only to formally reveal Resident Evil Requiem moments later. I suppose delayed jump scares are part of the Resident Evil formula, after all.
The next mainline installment in the iconic survival horror series will introduce a new protagonist, Grace Ashcroft, who has ties to a character from a lesser-known Resident Evil title. Even more exciting, Capcom confirmed that Resident Evil Requiem will support both first- and third-person gameplay at launch, blending the best elements of modern Resident Evil. We played a short preview build and came away impressed by how first-person amplifies the horror, while third-person delivers added action intensity.
Grace herself is a compelling new lead—an FBI analyst more at home behind a computer than holding a gun. That makes her (and us) all the more terrified when confronting Requiem's new stalker enemy, a hulking monstrosity whose grotesque frame blocks entire hallways.
All of this, combined with Capcom's ongoing hot streak of critically acclaimed games, has us incredibly excited to dive into the next chapter. Resident Evil Requiem releases on consoles and PC on February 27, 2026.
Resident Evil Requiem is our most anticipated game from the Summer of Gaming, but what's yours? Let us know in the comments below, or join us tomorrow when we'll be ranking the biggest announcements in an IGN community tier list.
