Follow the yellow brick road to November 2025, and you’ll discover who portrays Dorothy in Wicked: For Good, the second chapter of the Wicked film saga. One thing is certain: it won’t be Taylor Swift.
The debut trailer for For Good recently unveiled a glimpse of Dorothy from behind, but no clear hints reveal the actress stepping into the iconic role. Despite this, social media buzzed with rumors that Swift would play Dorothy, fueled by parody accounts sharing seemingly AI-crafted images of the singer in the character’s costume, falsely claiming they were from the film.
Given Swift’s demanding Eras tour schedule during the filming of both Wicked movies, her involvement in the sequel seems unlikely. Instead, Alisha Weir, star of Abigail, has emerged as the frontrunner for Dorothy.
The 15-year-old actress, previously seen in Matilda the Musical and Wicked Little Letters, has already showcased her talent, making her a strong contender for Dorothy. Speculation intensified when Weir appeared at the Wicked premiere last November, sporting silver shoes—a nod to the original color of the ruby slippers. Since then, she’s been the top pick for the role.
In interviews, Weir has sidestepped questions about the casting rumors without denying them outright. Director Jon M. Chu has confirmed that Dorothy’s role in For Good will be significantly expanded compared to the Wicked stage musical.
“I won’t confirm if she’s a central figure in the second film,” he told Huffington Post UK in November 2024. “Part of me wants everyone to envision their own Dorothy. Still, there’s interaction and overlap. I’ll leave that for Part Two to reveal.”

Here’s the official synopsis:
Helmed again by acclaimed director Jon M. Chu and featuring a stellar returning cast, including Academy Award nominees Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, the final chapter of Oz’s witches unfolds as Elphaba and Glinda grapple with the fallout of their choices, now estranged.
Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo), branded as The Wicked Witch of the West, lives in exile within Oz’s forests, fighting for the rights of Oz’s silenced Animals while striving to unveil the truth about The Wizard (Jeff Goldblum).
Glinda, now a dazzling emblem of virtue in Oz, resides in Emerald City’s palace, basking in fame under the guidance of Madame Morrible (Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh). She serves as a radiant figurehead, assuring Oz’s citizens of The Wizard’s benevolent rule.
As Glinda’s celebrity grows and she prepares for a grand wedding to Prince Fiyero (Olivier award winner Jonathan Bailey), her estrangement from Elphaba haunts her. Her attempts to reconcile Elphaba with The Wizard falter, deepening their rift. The consequences reshape Boq (Tony nominee Ethan Slater) and Fiyero and endanger Elphaba’s sister, Nessarose (Marissa Bode), when a girl from Kansas disrupts their world.
With a mob rallying against the Wicked Witch, Glinda and Elphaba must unite one last time. Their enduring friendship becomes the key to their fates, requiring raw honesty and empathy to transform themselves and Oz forever.
Wicked: For Good hits theaters on November 21, 2025.
