Ubisoft has launched a new NFT-based game, Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E., requiring players to purchase an NFT to participate. Details are scarce, but here's what we know.
As reported by Eurogamer, Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E. is a top-down, multiplayer arcade shooter. Access is limited to 10,000 players, each needing a Citizen ID Card NFT, purchased for approximately $25.63 via Ubisoft's claim page and a crypto wallet. This card tracks player achievements and evolves based on in-game performance. Players can also resell their IDs.
The game expands on the Netflix series, Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, a spin-off from Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. It incorporates familiar Ubisoft IP elements. While specific storyline details remain undisclosed, the game places players as citizens within the Eden technocracy, influencing the narrative through gameplay, leaderboard rankings, and community engagement.
Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix is an animated series set in a dystopian 1992, where a megacorporation controls the United States, renamed Eden. The series follows Dolph Laserhawk, a supersoldier, and his journey after defecting from Eden Tech Military. The game shares this universe's setting.
According to Ubisoft's Magic Eden page, the full game launch is slated for Q1 2025, with early access for those who secured Citizen ID Cards early.
