Saber Interactive has confirmed that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will launch DRM-free. This means no digital rights management software, eliminating potential performance issues often associated with DRM. Let's delve into the details of this announcement and what else players can expect.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Launches DRM-Free
No Microtransactions, Either

In a recent FAQ, Saber Interactive clarified that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, launching September 9th, will not utilize DRM such as Denuvo. While DRM aims to curb piracy, it's often criticized for negatively impacting game performance. Previous examples, like Capcom's Enigma DRM in Monster Hunter Rise, highlight potential compatibility and modding issues.
Although DRM is absent, the PC version will incorporate Easy Anti-Cheat at launch. Easy Anti-Cheat's use has faced scrutiny, notably in the Apex Legends community following a hacking incident during the ALGS 2024 tournament.
Currently, official mod support isn't planned, which might disappoint some players. However, the game will feature a PvP arena, horde mode, and a comprehensive photo mode. Furthermore, Saber Interactive assures players that all gameplay content will be free, with microtransactions and DLC restricted to cosmetic items only.
