The project, undertaken shortly after the release of X-Men 2: Wolverine’s Revenge, was ultimately canceled by Activision.

Activision's Silence and Speculation

While Activision never publicly explained the cancellation, Edwards offered several possible theories: the film's delay, dissatisfaction with the game's quality, or perhaps another developer's competing project.

The game's distinctive design, notably Tony Stark's appearance, also drew comment. The suit's design closely mirrored the "Ultimate Marvel" comic book style of the early 2000s, predating Robert Downey Jr.'s MCU portrayal by almost five years. Edwards stated the design was the artist's decision.
