Jack Quaid Eyes Bioshock Role Amid Comparisons to Max Payne in Novocaine

Jack Quaid, known for his role in the hit series "The Boys," expressed his enthusiasm for appearing in a potential BioShock movie during a Reddit AMA coinciding with the release of his new film, "Novocaine." Quaid highlighted BioShock as one of his all-time favorite games, citing its "rich lore" as a perfect fit for a TV or movie adaptation. "I would actually love to be in a live action adaptation of BioShock - one of my favorite games of all time," he stated, emphasizing the depth of the game's narrative that could be brought to life on screen.

The possibility of a BioShock movie has been discussed, with updates from producer Roy Lee indicating that the project has undergone significant changes. Following leadership shifts at Netflix, the film has been "reconfigured" to be a "more personal" adaptation due to lower budgets. Although details about the plot remain under wraps, Francis Lawrence, known for directing "The Hunger Games," is still set to direct the film. Lee mentioned, "The new regime has lowered the budgets. So we’re doing a much smaller version. It’s going to be a more personal point of view, as opposed to a grander, big project."

In the same Reddit AMA, Quaid acknowledged his striking resemblance to the video game character Max Payne, whose likeness is based on Remedy writer Sam Lake. Fans have noted this similarity, especially in scenes from Quaid's new action movie "Novocaine," leading some to speculate if it's a covert Max Payne film. Quaid admitted to the resemblance but confessed to being less familiar with Max Payne, stating, "I've seen people say that I look like Max Payne, and when I've looked at the box art, even I did a double-take. I love Rockstar's games, but unfortunately I've never played that one - it's next on the list, for sure."

Beyond BioShock, Quaid revealed his passion for FromSoftware's challenging games, mentioning his conquests of "Bloodborne," "Sekiro," and his current obsession with "Elden Ring." He shared, "I'm a huge video game nerd. And lately I've been diving headfirst into the FromSoftware library. I beat Bloodborne, then I beat Sekiro, and now I'm going full boar into Elden Ring. Actually, the thing I use Reddit the most for is tips and tricks on beating Fromsoft's bosses. I love how challenging the games are - it took me a while to get into them, but now I'm obsessed."
