The journey of "Daredevil: Born Again" from script to screen was filled with adjustments and revisions, yet the final series had one episode that remained completely unchanged: Episode 5. Interestingly, this very episode happens to be star Charlie Cox’s least favorite of the entire season.
"I don’t know if this interests anyone, but I’ll share that there was one episode we didn’t alter at all," Cox mentioned in a recent interview with The Playlist.
"It’s the bank episode, which was part of our original filming before the strike. That installment came straight from the initial draft, and honestly, it just didn’t resonate with me personally."
Cox told the outlet that he "pushed back against it as much as I reasonably could." The episode centers on his character, Matt Murdock (also known as Daredevil), who gets trapped in the middle of a bank robbery while trying to secure a loan for the law firm he runs with partners Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) and Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll).
"The premise felt like a game straight out of the 1970s," Cox remarked about the episode. "With today’s technology, that kind of scenario just doesn’t seem plausible. Plus, I didn’t think the method used for the theft was sophisticated enough."

That said, the actor also recognized that, despite his personal opinion, many viewers seemed to genuinely enjoy the episode.
"I really argued against that episode, and yet I keep hearing from so many fans that they loved it. It just goes to show how subjective these things are," Cox added. "Everyone’s taste is different. I’ve heard that internally, the episode scored among the highest ratings Disney has ever seen for a show."
We were big fans of Episode 5, too. In our review of Episodes 5 and 6 of "Daredevil: Born Again," we wrote: "Everything is executed brilliantly. I can’t recall the last time a Marvel series had me smiling so much from start to finish, completely engrossed the entire time. This episode also succeeds in highlighting what makes Matt Murdock such a unique and compelling hero—even when he’s not in costume."
