In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, gems serve as one of several ways to strengthen your character. These permanent equipable items provide various passive buffs that prove invaluable when tackling higher difficulty levels.
The game's gem system allows you to both craft new gems and upgrade existing ones, though the process involves some randomness. Here's a complete guide to working with gems - from crafting mechanics to optimizing results for specific gem types.
How To Craft & Level Up Gems In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
The gem crafting system utilizes Pyroxene crystals and becomes available at any Inn or campsite tent. Access the "Create Gems" option (second from the top) while in your private quarters. This interface lets you convert Pyroxene into gems at a 1:1 ratio from among five possible gem variants.
Freshly crafted gems start at level 1 and can be equipped via the Battle Preparations menu. Subsequent duplicates of a gem type will contribute XP toward upgrading its base version, gradually increasing its effects with each level advancement.
For general progression, mass-crafting with all available Pyroxene proves efficient for simultaneous upgrades across all gem types. However, the system includes specialized mechanics for those pursuing specific gems.
Crafting single gems may trigger the "Eyes of the Sacred Bird" effect. This temporary state randomly restricts crafting results to three gem types for sequential crafts. While cancellable by exiting/re-entering the crafting menu, this mechanic offers greater control when targeting particular gems.
Note that Eyes of the Sacred Bird reduces but doesn't eliminate the randomness inherent in gem crafting.
The game features five distinct gem types:
| Gem Name | Passive Boost |
|---|
| Oblivion Gem | Expands attack range |
| Vortex Gem | Boosts aerial attack damage |
| Scorch Gem | Enhances parry counterattacks |
| Wellspring Gem | Restores HP per 100 defeated enemies |
| Ascendance Gem | Chance to auto-block officer attacks |
Where To Get Pyroxene In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Pyroxene appears randomly throughout the game world as glowing orange crystal formations - easily spotted protruding from the terrain. Each collected crystal yields one Pyroxene before vanishing.
The overworld partially refreshes Pyroxene deposits after completing Skirmishes or Battles, encouraging periodic map revisits to gather newly spawned crystals. Additional Pyroxene occasionally appears via letters read at Inns or campsite tents.
