Deltarune's Switch 2 version was unveiled during the latest Nintendo Direct for Switch 2 on April 2. This version will include chapters 3 and 4, along with exclusive features tailored for the next-gen console.
According to a Fangamer newsletter from Deltarune developer Toby Fox, the Switch 2 version will feature a unique room that utilizes the mouse functionality of the new Joy-Cons. Fox explained, "So, we made a very small SPECIAL ROOM which takes advantage of using MOUSE CONTROLS ON TWO CONTROLLERS AT ONCE, only possible on the Nintendo Switch 2!!"
For players using non-Switch 2 devices, the unique room will still be accessible, but with a different control scheme. Additionally, players can transfer their save files from the Nintendo Switch demo of Deltarune 1 and 2 to the new version.
In the newsletter, Fox also confirmed Deltarune's price at $24.99. This price includes Chapters 1 and 2, as well as the new releases of Chapters 3 and 4. Chapter 1 was released in 2018, followed by Chapter 2 in 2021. Both were free, but it was previously announced that future Chapters 3-5 would be paid.
However, Fox has now announced that upcoming Chapters will be added as free updates. This means that players only need to purchase the game once, and future Chapters will be provided at no additional cost. Fox stated, "But, it's my hope that as we complete more Chapters, you'll feel like this game was a super super super super good deal."
The game's soundtrack will be available on Steam for $14.99. The upcoming release of Chapters 3 and 4 will include over 150 songs, with songs from future Chapters also being added for free. Deltarune aims to provide fans with a game that offers exceptional value by delivering future Chapters and content at no extra charge.
