In the eagerly anticipated cooperative action game, Elden Ring Nightreign, fans might be surprised to learn that the notorious poisonous swamps, a hallmark of From Software titles, will not be making an appearance. This revelation comes directly from the project’s product manager, Yasuhiro Kitao, during a recent discussion with journalists. Although a similar location was teased in the game's trailer, Kitao clarified that it is an entirely different setting. The decision to exclude the poisonous swamps stems from the absence of their biggest advocate, Hidetaka Miyazaki, the head of From Software. Known for his affinity for swampy terrains, Miyazaki's influence has been instrumental in including such areas in previous titles like Elden Ring and the Dark Souls series. However, he did not participate in the development of Elden Ring Nightreign.

There's also a glimmer of hope for fans of cooperative play. While Elden Ring Nightreign has been announced with one-player and three-player modes, the developers are currently mulling over the possibility of adding a two-player mode. Initially, a two-player option was omitted due to content balancing challenges. However, From Software is still contemplating this addition, though a final decision remains pending.
Elden Ring Nightreign is set to launch on May 30, 2025, and will be available on PC and two generations of consoles, promising an exciting new chapter in the From Software saga without its traditional swampy hazards.
