Good and bad news for Dragon Age: The Veilguard fans! BioWare has announced the game will launch without Denuvo DRM, a decision celebrated by many PC players who often experience performance issues with such anti-piracy software. However, this decision comes with a trade-off: no preload for PC players.
Veilguard: DRM-Free, But No Preload for PC
BioWare's Michael Gamble confirmed on Twitter (X) that "Veilguard will not have Denuvo on PC. We trust you." This move has been met with positive reactions from gamers who appreciate the potential performance boost. One user commented, "I support this. I will buy your game upon launch. Thank you."
The absence of DRM also means no pre-loading for PC players, a significant drawback considering Veilguard's 100GB storage requirement. Console players, however, can still preload. Xbox early access players can install now; PlayStation early access begins October 29th. Gamble also confirmed that the game will not require an always-online connection.
System Requirements Revealed
Along with the DRM news, BioWare released the system requirements. High-end PCs can utilize ray tracing and uncapped frame rates. Minimum specs aim for broad accessibility. Consoles (PlayStation 5 & Xbox Series X|S) offer fidelity and performance modes, targeting 30 and 60 FPS respectively. For maximum ray tracing on PC, players need at least an Intel Core i9 9900K or AMD Ryzen 7 3700X CPU, 16GB RAM, and an Nvidia RTX 3080 or AMD Radeon 6800XT GPU.
