Hades 2 Release Date: Developer Insights

May 02,2025 Author: Ethan

The highly acclaimed dungeon crawler *Hades* is set to receive a sequel, *Hades II*, from Supergiant Games. The early access version of *Hades II* was released in 2024, and here's what we know about the anticipated full release and what the developers have hinted about the game's launch.

*Hades II* Full Release Estimate

*Hades II* has been available in early access for PC users since May 6, 2024, via Steam and the Epic Games Store. An early access launch for macOS users followed on October 16, 2024, accompanied by a substantial content update. The most recent update for early access players was released on February 19, 2025. Console players are expected to gain access to *Hades II* only at its full launch. The ongoing early access phase allows Supergiant Games to gather valuable data, which will help in finalizing the game before its official release.

Considering the feedback from the February 2025 update, a full launch for *Hades II* could be expected in Q2 2025, spanning from April to June. An April release seems unlikely as it might not provide Supergiant enough time to process and respond to the latest update's feedback. A May 2025 release, marking a full year since the early access began, appears more realistic, allowing the developers ample time to incorporate changes based on player feedback.

Even in its early access phase, *Hades II* is showing promising signs of being a worthy sequel to the original game. With the game expected to launch sometime in 2025, the focus now is on how much development and polish Supergiant Games will add before the official release. An announcement confirming *Hades II*'s release date seems imminent.

Development on *Hades II* began in early 2021, with much of the original game's production team and voice cast returning for the sequel. Supergiant Games has been relatively quiet about the full release date, preferring to let players experience the game's progress through early access. The last significant press engagement occurred around the technical test and initial early access launch in April and May 2024, after which the team shifted focus back to development rather than promotion.

In interviews with outlets like Game Informer in May 2024, Supergiant Games expressed their intent to preserve the core elements that made the first game a success while introducing new characters and elements, such as the protagonist Melinoë, to keep the experience fresh and engaging. Fans are eagerly awaiting the full release of *Hades II*, looking forward to diving back into the dungeon-crawling adventure that captivated so many with the original game.
