Chinese game developer miHoYo, along with its global subsidiary HoYoverse, has applied for a trademark for "Honkai Nexus Anima." The trademark application for Honkai Nexus Anima was initially spotted on the Korea Intellectual Property Information Search’s (KIPRIS) website, though it was subsequently removed. However, the U.S. trademark filing remains visible on the United States Patent and Trademark Office’s (USPTO) website.

The Honkai series kicked off with Honkai Impact 3rd, a free-to-play mobile action RPG that serves as a spiritual successor to the 2D side-scrolling shooter game, Houkai Gakuen 2. Following its success, Honkai Star Rail was released in 2023, offering a free-to-play mobile game with turn-based combat.

While both games share themes related to space and similar character designs, they exist in separate universes with unique narratives. According to GosuGamers, citing @chibi0108 on Twitter, they are developing an "auto-chess" game featuring "Destined Spirits." While direct access to the original job listings is unavailable, these details remain speculative.

Although HoYoverse has not officially confirmed any connection between Honkai Nexus Anima and the auto-chess game, fans are drawing links between the two.
