Hilt Stab
A quick attack generating a note. The specific note depends on the button combination used (Triangle/Y, Circle/B, or Triangle/Y + Circle/B).
R2/RT
Perform
Activates Melody Effects. Stored melodies play sequentially; R2/RT + Triangle/Y or Circle/B selects specific melodies. A powerful Performance Beat (R2/RT) during multiple melodies, followed by an Encore (Triangle/Y + Circle/B), boosts and extends effects. Timing these with Melody Effect activation maximizes their power.
R2/RT + Cross/A
Echo Bubble
Creates an Echo Bubble, its type depending on the equipped Hunting Horn. Up to three notes (Triangle/Y, Circle/B, or Triangle/Y + Circle/B) can be added.
R2/RT + Triangle/Y + Circle/B with Melody Stocked
Special Performance
Plays the unique Melody Effect of the equipped Hunting Horn. Once stocked, this melody isn't overwritten.
L2/LT + R1/RB
Focus Strike: Reverb
A Performance attack effective against wounds. Up to five notes (Triangle/Y, Circle/B, or Triangle/Y + Circle/B) can be added during performance. Precise timing increases damage.
Combos

Overhead Smash Combo
A fundamental combo: move forward (analog stick) and press Triangle/Y + Circle/B twice for the Overhead Smash and its follow-up. Consistent use can stun monsters.
Performance Combo
After stacking melodies, initiate Perform (forward + R2/RT), followed by Triangle/Y + Circle/B for an Encore to enhance and extend Melody Effects.
Echo Bubble Combo
Ideal against incapacitated foes: start with Echo Bubble (Cross/A + R2/RT), then Triangle/Y, Circle/B, Circle/B for Echo Wave (Blunt), R2/RT for Perform, and finish with an Encore (Triangle/Y + Circle/B).

Hunting Horn Tips

Note Mastery
Familiarize yourself with note combinations for different melodies. The top-right corner displays command-note pairings. Flourish and Overhead Smash allow adding extra notes. Notes can also be played while riding your Seikret.
Buff Optimization
Stack songs for multiple buffs, tailoring them to the situation. Consider the time investment required for performances.
Echo Bubble Utilization
Maximize Echo Bubble usage. It provides three additional note inputs and amplifies damage. Increased evasion and movement speed within the bubble enhance survivability, especially in High Rank hunts.
Self-Improvement Skill
Prioritize the Self-Improvement skill to at least level 2 for a 20% attack boost.
Special Performance Readiness
Always keep a Special Performance ready. For example, the Offset Melody, once stocked, can be used to counter monster attacks; activate it as the monster strikes to knock it down.
