Infinity Nikki: A Behind-the-Scenes Look at the Open-World Fashion Adventure

Infinity Nikki Snapped Up Devs from BotW and The Witcher 3

A new behind-the-scenes documentary reveals the journey of creating Infinity Nikki, the highly anticipated open-world fashion game launching December 4th (EST/PST) on PC, PlayStation, and mobile. This 25-minute video showcases the passion and dedication of the development team, highlighting their innovative approach to blending the popular Nikki series' core mechanics with an expansive open-world experience.

The project, initiated in December 2019, involved a dedicated team working in secrecy to build the foundation for this ambitious undertaking. Game designer Sha Dingyu describes the challenge of integrating the established dress-up game elements with an entirely new open-world concept, a process that involved creating a unique framework from scratch.

The documentary also highlights the team's commitment to evolving the Nikki IP. Chief Technology Officer Fei Ge explains that instead of simply creating another mobile game, the team aimed for a technological and product upgrade, pushing the boundaries of what's possible within the franchise. This dedication is exemplified by the producer's creation of a clay model of the Grand Millewish Tree, a key location in the game's Miraland setting.

The video offers glimpses of Miraland's breathtaking landscapes, focusing on the Grand Millewish Tree and its inhabitants, the Faewish Sprites. Game designer Xiao Li emphasizes the lively, realistic nature of the NPCs, who continue their daily routines even as Nikki progresses through missions.

A World-Class Team

The game's stunning visuals are a testament to the talent assembled for Infinity Nikki. In addition to the core Nikki series team, the project brought together experienced international developers. This includes Lead Sub Director Kentaro "Tomiken" Tominaga, a veteran game designer from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and concept artist Andrzej Dybowski, who contributed to The Witcher 3.

From its official start on December 28th, 2019, the team has dedicated over 1800 days to bringing Infinity Nikki to life. Prepare to embark on a magical adventure with Nikki and Momo in Miraland this December!
